Fix BlueMail push notifications on Motorola

Published

Menu names differ between software versions. If a path here does not match your phone, search your Settings app for the setting named in bold — it is the same setting under a different label.

Motorola’s software stays close to stock Android, so there are fewer layers to clear than on most phones — but it does add its own battery manager, which can undo the per-app setting.

Allow unrestricted battery use

Settings → Apps → BlueMail → App battery usage → Unrestricted.

On older builds: Settings → Apps and notifications → BlueMail → Advanced → Battery → Background restriction → Remove.

Turn off Adaptive battery

Settings → Battery → Adaptive battery.

Check Motorola’s own background manager

Search Settings for background and look for a Motorola battery or performance screen that lists apps allowed to run in the background. Set BlueMail to active or allowed there too — this is the setting most often missed on Motorola phones, because the stock Android one appears to be set correctly.

If mail still arrives late

  • Confirm notifications in Settings → Notifications → App notifications → BlueMail.
  • Turn off Battery Saver, or accept that mail slows down while it is on.
